Note: This only applies to customers on server host1.internetguruhosting.net
All web hosting accounts come with multiple email boxes. These email boxes are named according to the following format:-
mail(number).domainname .
For example mail1.mydomain.com .
Each of these mailboxes can accept email for multiple email addresses. The default email address for each mail box is in the following format:-
mail(number)@domainname
For example mail1@mydomain.com is the default email address for the mailbox mail1.mydomain.com .
Changing the default email address
1. Log in to webmin with the master login for your domain (this is the same as your ftp login)
2. Select Servers > Sendmail Configuration > Address Mappings
3. Select the email address that you want to change
4. Change the address in the Mail for – Address field (don’t change the Send to – Address unless you know what you are doing.
Your new email address must have same domain as your domain name or it wont work. ie changing mail4@mydomain.com to john@mydomain.com is ok. Changing it to john@otherdomain.com is not ok.
5. Press save.
Adding a new email address to point to an existing mailbox
1. Log in to webmin with the master login for your domain (this is the same as your ftp login)
2. Select Servers > Sendmail Configuration > Address Mappings
3. In the Create Mapping box enter the new address in the Mail for – Address field. In the Send to – Address field enter the name of the mailbox the address points to.
4. Press Create.
Redirecting an email address to point to another email box
You may want to direct an email address from your domain to an email address in another domain. This is often done when someone already has a mail box under a different domain or wishes email to be forwarded to an account already provided to them by their isp.
1. Log in to webmin with the master login for your domain (this is the same as your ftp login)
2. Select Servers > Sendmail Configuration > Address Mappings
3. In the Create Mapping box enter the new address in the Mail for – Address field. In the Send to – Address field enter the name of the email address that you want the mail to go too.
4. Press Create.
