Instructions for setting up IMAP and SMTP in Mozilla Thunderbird with SSL and authentication using the host mail.webnecessities.net:
- Open Thunderbird:
- Launch Mozilla Thunderbird on your computer.
- Add a New Email Account:
- Click on Create a new email account. This will open the Welcome to Thunderbird window.
- Choose Existing Email Account:
- Select Skip this and use my existing email.
- Enter Account Information:
- Fill in the following details:
- Your Name: Your display name.
- Email Address: Your full email address.
- Password: Your email password.
- Fill in the following details:
- Manual Configuration:
- Click Manual config to configure the email account settings manually.
- Configure Incoming Server (IMAP):
- Under the Incoming section:
- Choose IMAP as the protocol.
- Set the Server to mail.webnecessities.net.
- Use SSL/TLS from the drop-down next to SSL.
- Select Normal password for authentication.
- Enter your full user@domain.tld username.
- Click Done.
- Under the Incoming section:
- Configure Outgoing Server (SMTP):
- Under the Outgoing section:
- The SMTP protocol is already chosen.
- Set the Server Hostname to mail.webnecessities.net.
- Use Port 465 (default SSL port for SMTP).
- Click OK.
- Under the Outgoing section:
- Test the Connection:
- Send a test email to verify that both incoming and outgoing servers are working correctly.
