Setting up email – Apple Mac

Instruction for Mac mail

  1. Open Apple Mail:
    • Launch the Apple Mail application on your Mac.
  2. Add an Account:
    • Click on Mail in the top menu bar, then select Add Account.
    • Choose Other Mail Account and click Continue.
  3. Enter Account Details:
    • Enter your Name, Email Address, and Password.
    • Click Sign In.
  4. Configure Incoming Mail :
    • Choose IMAP or POP3 as the account type.
    • Fill in the following details:
      • Incoming Mail Server :
        • Hostname: mail.webnecessities.net
        • Username: Your full email address
        • Password: Your email password
    • Click Sign In.
  5. Configure Outgoing Mail (SMTP):
    • Fill in the following details:
      • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
        • Hostname: mail.webnecessities.net
        • Username: Your full email address
        • Password: Your email password
    • Click Sign In.
  6. Enable SSL/TLS:
    • Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts.
    • Select your account on the left.
    • Click Server Settings on the right.
      • Ensure that the “Automatically manage connection settings” option is unchecked.
    • For the Incoming Mail Server:
      • Port: 995 for POP3 / 993 for IMAP
      • Use SSL: Checked
      • Authentication: Password
    • For the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
      • Port: 587 (or 465 if using SSL)
      • Use SSL: Checked (if using port 465)
      • Authentication: Password
      • Check the box for Use TLS/SSL.
      • Ensure the port number is set to the correct value (usually 993 for IMAP and 465 or 587 for SMTP).
    • Click Save.
  7. Test the Connection:
    • Send a test email to verify that both incoming and outgoing servers are working correctly.
